Sempris Gives Back
Each year, Sempris associates generously give both their time and money to a variety of organizations in our local and global community.
Sempris was proud to be a capital donor for the new ICA Food Shelf in Minnetonka, which held its official grand opening ceremony in July 2014. The new facility features a grocery store, allowing users to choose their own food items, including fresh produce and perishables.
When the family of a Sempris employee lost their home to a mudslide over the past summer, the entire company rallied to help, with a raffle and financial donation.
In September, Sempris made a donation of 12 leather chairs, valued at $3,000, to The Atelier Studio Program of Fine Art in Minneapolis, in addition to donations to a memorial tournament for one of our servicemen, and the Minnetonka Rotary Club.
"While I am always happy to see the company making donations to worthwhile organizations in our community, I find it very gratifying to see how eager our employees are to participate in food and toy drives," said Sempris Chairman, President, and CEO, George S. Richards. "We’re looking forward to some unique ways to give back in 2015, based on Sempris employees' desire to be even more hands-on in the company's philanthropic efforts."Sempris Green
At Sempris, we view it as our responsibility as leaders in both the business community and the global community to act as stewards of our environment and natural resources. Being “green” isn’t just a catchy slogan for us. It’s a standard of accountability that we measure ourselves against each day.
Sempris headquarters are located within a state-of-the-art office complex that proudly stands at the forefront of the green movement, earning an Energy Star label annually since 2006. In 2012, our building received an Energy Star rating of 96 out of 100 from the Environmental Protection Agency, certifying its exemplary efforts to reduce energy consumption and lower its carbon footprint. In 2011, our building became a LEED GOLD Energy Building, with the prestigious Gold-Level rating for an energy conservation strategy that includes everything from solar-powered water faucets to plantings throughout the campus grounds that require less maintenance and water. LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is the Gold Standard in Federal Green Building Standards. And in the fourth quarter of 2012, our building received the Building Owners and Managers Association 360 Award, recognizing it as a property that operates among the best in conservation standards and practices in the industry. From the green cleaning products we use to our extensive recycling plan, each and every Sempris associate is committed to responsible energy conservation and protecting our natural resources.
At Sempris, our concern for the environment extends to the companies we do business with, from our print vendors to our delivery service.
For the last several years, we have been using EcoXpress, an eco-friendly courier company to deliver our packages locally. Through its fleet of hybrid and high fuel efficiency/low emission vehicles, plus contributions to green-power sources to offset emissions, EcoXpress goes the extra mile to reduce energy consumption and increase sustainability.
